The knife has a very quality feel to it. I am very satisfied. It has a very even black oxide finish and the blade’s shape has been honed expertly with superior craftsmanship in mind. It has very high quality leather discs for its handle, as well as an equally nice leather sheath with a USMC logo beautifully imprinted. This knife is practically a work of art.
Only con I can really think of is this knife is 1095 carbon steel, and is thus not stainless and quite susceptible to rust. If you leave this knife in the sheath and do not oil it, you will almost certainly get rust on the portions that are not coated, i.e. the sharpened part of the blade and the serrated edges. The black oxide finish does protect the majority of the knife from this rust, though.
Can be difficult to sharpen because it is such a hard steel, but any intermediate knife sharpener with a decent set of knife sharpening tools should be able to handle it. I do not consider this a con because the knife will take an edge reasonably well and will hold it for a very long time.
This is an extremely high quality knife for the price. This purchase is almost a no-brainer for knife lovers who don’t have one in the collection.

I really like the way this knife looks. The handle is wonderful and the blade is great. I like the way part of the top of the blade is sharp as well as the bottom. It adds to it’s image as a fighting knife. I love that it was used by the Marines in WWII –that adds a lot for me. On the other side of the coin, this is a big knife and as I have not had a chance to use it for any self defense purposes, I now think it is a little large for most of my uses. The sheath is so-so. When I hold it and look it over I am not wowed by quality, it is a simple way to carry the knife. After a little bit of use, the black on the back side of the hand guard rubs off. I would buy it again, but it won’t see as much use as other knifes as it is a bit too large for most of my uses and too big for everyday carry unless you live in a remote area.

This knife is fantastic, you could easily spend up to $300 from a different knife company and not get much more quality than what you see here. This knife is a workhorse, its tough and versatile for just about any job that would normally require anything from machetes to a kitchen knife.
And if this knife can outperform for a United States Marine, it will definitely outperform for you.
